My actual thought process: "Interesting. How is hiding behind a brick wall like expression of the self? Is this chick trying to express the concept of shyness by getting behind a wall and looking really shy? Hmmm. Maybe this piece a commentary on how any attempt at self-expression requires exposure and a level of intimacy most would be uncomfortable with? Maybe the contrast between the title (self-expression) and the imagery (shyness, hiding behind a wall) is intentionally conflicting? Oh, wait. Now I get it. This piece is meant to evoke a feeling simmilar to the way the author feels when expressing himself or herself. Wow, that wasn't so hard! Look at me, I can interpret art!"

Technically, I really love the texture used in this photograph, and the contrast between elements... her skin looks so soft. The bricks look so rough. Her eye looks so moist. Her hair looks so dry. It really makes the whole image pop. Great composition, nice execution. And congradulations on actually getting my brain from just looking at the piece to interpretation. That does NOT happen every day in my brain!

Well I myself am very glad you spotted the texture. Before the shoot I spoke to Emma (the model and is RubberSpandex) about the resons for the location, how I wanted to put the photos in black and white for the reason that the texture would show up more and the location was riddled with different textures and backgrounds. I thankyou for your commentary of the photgraph both from my point of view and hers.

I love how playful this image is. It's really great and the use of black and white really helps to add to the emotion of the shot!
